Obituary

William Thomas Anderson III, of Colon, Michigan, passed away on October 22, 2026. He was born on October 6, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Burlington High School in Boston, Massachusetts, Class of 1966. He went on to serve in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. He was also a member of Colon American Legion Post 454.

On January 11, 1976, he married Sandra Sue Carlton in Kingman, Arizona, beginning a marriage that remained an important part of his life. He will be remembered for the many things he enjoyed and the warmth he brought to those around him. He loved hunting and fishing, rescuing cats, and watching a good race. An animal lover with wide-ranging interests, he also enjoyed model cars and trains and was a devoted student of military history.

Above all, family was central to his life. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Anderson; his daughters, Dawn Hughes, Starr Anderson, Donna (Agusto Velazco) Anderson, and Diana (Dave Reinhold) LaPier; his son, William (Nicole) Anderson IV; his sisters, Judith Horgan and Gladys Rife; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who continue his family’s legacy. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of his life, his interests, and the time they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Dorothy (Todd) Anderson Jr.

William Thomas Anderson III will be remembered with affection by his family and friends, and with gratitude by those who knew his steady presence, his love of animals, and the enthusiasm he brought to the things he enjoyed most.
