Walter "Jerry" Whitley age 68 of Colon passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home.Jerry was born December 29, 1949 in Salyersville, Kentucky, a son of the late Earnie Josephine (William) Whitley Sr.Jerry grew up in Colon attending Colon High School and made his home in the Colon area most of his adult life.On December 29, 1969 Jerry married Betty Jean Schwartz in Sturgis, Michigan. She preceded him in death on August 25, 1998.Jerry had worked at the Sturgis Foundry for 30 years.He is survived by 2 children; Michelle (Randy) Bell of Kendallville, IN, and Henry Bailey of Kansas City, MO, 2 grand children; Lorissa Whitley and Tara Peavey and 4 siblings; Earl Whitley, Tom Ray Whitley, Earnie Whitley Jr., and Betty Johnson.Jerry was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Billy Whitley and James Whitley.
