Obituary

Sally J Case, born July 22, 1947, in Sturgis, Michigan, passed away on August 22, 2026, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater. Sally was a dedicated and caring individual who touched the lives of those around her through her quiet strength, helping spirit, and steadfast devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Sally attended Sturgis High School, laying the foundation for a life characterized by reliability and a strong work ethic. She later spent many years employed at Maxitrol in Colon, where her commitment and diligence were deeply appreciated by her colleagues.

Throughout her life, Sally was involved in numerous activities that reflected her generous and nurturing nature. She served as both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader in Colon, mentoring young people and guiding them with patience and encouragement. A creative individual, Sally enjoyed basket weaving and oil painting, expressing herself artistically and sharing her talents with others. Some of her happiest moments were spent quilting with the ladies of the Lutheran Church and serving dinners at Crossroads Bible Church in Sherwood, acts which demonstrated her kindness and willingness to give back to the community.

Sally's love of adventure was evident in her travels with her dear friend, Cheryl Harvey, an experience she cherished. Within her own home and amongst loved ones, Sally was known for going above and beyond when celebrating holidays, creating cherished memories and moments of joy for her family. Though a self-described shy and helpful introvert, Sally’s warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Sally is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter, Debbra Case; her son, Douglas (Kelly) Case; and her grandchildren, Kassandra Legg, Erika Swope, Johnathan Swope, Andrea Swope, Allison LeBarre, and Ryan Case. She is also survived by her siblings, Susan Grimes, Keith Hawver, Donald Hawver, Cindy Coohan, and Dan Stevens. Sally was predeceased by her beloved husband, David John Case, as well as her parents, Archie Hawver and Joyce Schrader, and her brother, Bob Stevens.

A Celebration of Life service in Sally’s honor will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Crossroad's Bible Church, 1144 Dunks Road, Sherwood, MI 49089. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance of Sally’s remarkable life and lasting legacy.
