Roxanne Marie Persing passed away on September 21, 2026, at Beacon Kalamazoo. She was born on April 14, 1964, in Lansing, Michigan.

A 1982 graduate of Lansing Everett High School. She worked as a Human Resources specialist at Pinkerton for 18 years, later became a licensed realtor for five years, and then spent 10 years driving a school bus for Colon Schools. She retired in 2023 to begin her career as a stay-at-home grandma.

Roxanne was someone who made others feel welcome with ease. She had the gift of gab and treated everyone as if they had been friends for years. She especially enjoyed the title of GAGA and was also known as a great bonus mom, roles that brought her deep happiness. Outside of work and family, she loved hunting and fishing, and she found joy at the beach, in the sand, floating in the water, and soaking up the sunshine. She also enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of MSU sports.

She is survived by Stephen W. Persing Sr. of Colon; her daughter, Lindsey (Paul) Sheets of Laingsburg; bonus children: Sarah Dennis of Sylacauga, AL; Melissa (Michael) DeWitt of Colon; Meagon (Logan) Vaughn of Burr Oak; and Stephen (Cloey) Persing of Leonidas. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Paisley, Devin, Ethan, Colton, Makiah, Zahn, Ryker, Wrenley, and Colson, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Roxanne is also survived by her parents, Gerald Hedin of Sherwood and Janet Hedin of Lansing; her sister, Brenda Alhir, and Goz Alhir; and her brother, Randy Hedin, and Amy Hedin. Her family and friends will remember her for her warmth, her easy conversation, and the way she welcomed others into her life.

An open house in celebration of Roxanne’s life will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Colon American Legion Post 454, 122 East State Street, Colon, Michigan 49040. Family asks that guests dress casually.

Roxanne Marie Persing will be remembered with love for her lively spirit, her kindness, and the lasting impression she made on all who knew her.
