Robert Michael Young age 85 of Colon, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home.Robert was born November 5, 1933 in Harvey, IL a son to the late James and Mary (Boyle) Young.On October 15, 1966 he married Rose LaBanca in Harvey, IL and she preceded him in death October 12, 2013.He had worked as a Lab Technician for Allis-Chalmers in Harvey, IL for over 30 years.Robert had made his home in Colon on Palmer Lake since 2000, coming from St. Johns, IN.He was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Colon. Robert loved time spent with his grandchildren, fishing and taking pontoon rides.He is survived by a son Michael (Bridget) Young of Orland Park, IL, daughter, Sherry Baugh of Hebron, IN, six grandchildren; Aidan, Benjamin, Chase, Katherine, Dylan and Colin, and brother Charles Young of Homewood, IL.Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister Catherine Panozzo.In keeping with Roberts wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert M. Young will then take place at 11:00 with Father Antony Rajesh officiating.
