Richard G. Duncan age 83 of Sherwood passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born on August 21, 1940 a son to the late Leon and Joan (Brickley) Duncan. Richard was born in Ohio, and shortly after birth moved to Indiana, before settling in Sherwood Township on the family farm in the early 1950's. Richard was a graduate of Union City High School and a member of the class of 1958.

On December 17, 1961, Richard married his wife of 58 years Joan O. Heinrich at the Sonoma Methodist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan. Joan preceded Richard in death on October 18, 2021.

Richard was a farmer by trade and spent his life working on the Duncan family farm. He enjoyed attending antique tractor shows and farm equipment shows. These served as a majority of the family vacations. Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed history but really enjoyed reading about agrarian history. He served his community by being a Branch County 4-H volunteer, a member of the Athens Historical Society, Sherwood Township Board Member, and served many years as a member of the Athens School Board, finishing out his time as Board President.

Surviving Richard is his son Dennis (Cathy) Duncan of Cookeville, Tennessee, grandson Joshua Duncan of Hastings, and brother John (Janet) Duncan of Florida.

Besides his parents Leon and Joan Duncan, and his wife Joan O. Duncan, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Duncan, and his brother Don Duncan.

Following in his wish's cremation has taken place. There will be no services of any kind.
