Funeral Service: Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10 AM also at the funeral home with pastor Geoge Milliman officiating. Interment will follow in Adams Cemetery in Bronson, Michigan.



Peter Fay Mathews age 81 of Mendon, Michigan and Frostproof, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at his home in Mendon, Michigan.
Pete was born on May 23, 1941, in Fawn River Township, a son to the late Fay and Mary (Sanders) Mathews.
On April 4, 1960, Pete married his wife of 62 years Geraldine (Gerry) Mears, in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Fay and Mary's home.
Pete worked for Conrail for 25 years. Pete loved playing slow pitch softball. He played on and managed men's, women's and coed slow pitch softball teams in Kalamazoo and St. Joseph Counties in Michigan and Highland County Florida.
Surviving Pete today is his wife Geraldine Mathews, children: Gerry Jo (Steve) Brown, Sandy (Dale) McNees, Dianne (Dan) Lettsome, Danny (Robin) Mathews, David (Linda) Mathews, Holly (Allen) Robinson, daughter in law Johanne Mathews, 2 sisters: Mary (Lloyd) Tyler, and Dawn (Gerald) Selders, 30 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
Besides his parents Fay and Mary Mathews, Pete was preceded in death by his son Peter Fay Mathews II, brother Rick Mathews, sister Ruth Lilly, and in-laws Bud and Lucille (McClish) Mears.
The Mathews family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, and Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 4-8 PM at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10 AM also at the Schipper Funeral Home, with pastor George Milliman officiating. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery in Bronson, Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donations be made to the Mathews Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
