Pamela Jean
Pugh
June 26, 1956 – May 29, 2025
Pamela Jean Pugh, age 68, of Colon, passed away at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Pamela was born in Sturgis, Michigan, on June 26, 1956, a daughter to the late Lloyd and Carolyn (Llewellyn) Babcock. Pamela was a graduate of Sturgis High School.
On December 20, 1973, Pamela married Leroy Pugh in Howe, Indiana. Leroy preceded her in death on February 3, 2020.
Pamela, lovingly known as Pam to most, was described by many as kind, loving, and selfless. She didn't seek much in life—her heart was full simply being surrounded by family. To many, she wasn't just a mother to her own children, but also "Ma" or "Mom" to anyone who needed one. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering love, and generous heart left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Family was everything to Pam. She held tightly to family traditions, cherishing every holiday spent together, especially the annual Fourth of July parade. One of her favorite traditions was creating Christmas coloring books and baking treats during the holiday season—a time filled with joy, laughter, and the warmth of togetherness.
Pam adored being a grandmother to her only grandson, Ryan, and deeply loved her fur grandkids. She enjoyed crafting, spending time outdoors, and had a natural talent for gardening. With a green thumb and a gentle touch, she always made sure the yard looked its best. The peaceful sounds of birdsong and wind chimes brought her comfort and joy.
A strong and determined woman, Pam had a giving heart and always placed the needs of others above her own. She offered love and kindness unconditionally, never expecting anything in return. Even as her health declined in her final months, she graciously allowed her children to care for her, expressing deep pride and gratitude for them and her grandson.
After losing her beloved soulmate, Leroy, in 2020, Pam moved in with her only son, Tim. She made his home their home and found great comfort there—especially in the warmth of the wood stove, which she cherished deeply as someone who was always cold.
Pam will be remembered for her strength, her love, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her spirit lives on in the traditions she passed down, the plants she nurtured, and the hearts she touched.
Pamela is survived by her children: Wendy (Aaron Wheeler) McCartney of Colon, Timothy Pugh of Colon, and Amy (Gary Diethrich Jr.) Pugh of Bronson; grandson Ryan (Kialey) McCartney; and brother Phil Llewelyn of Florida.
Besides her parents, Lloyd and Carolyn Babcock, Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Pugh; daughter-in-law, Lyndsay Thomet; grandson, Camphor Thomet; son-in-law, Tim McCartney; sister, Joy Harris; and brothers Bill Babcock, Curtis Babcock, and Laird Babcock.
Following in her wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time. Memorial donations can be directed to the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. to assist in final expenses.
