Obituary

Margaret Alice Wagner, a cherished member of the Colon and Sherwood communities, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Sherwood, Michigan, after a courageous 2.5-year battle with cancer. Born on June 6, 1965, in Coldwater, Michigan, Mrs. Wagner was a devoted family woman who lived a life grounded in service, love, and resilience.

A graduate of Union City High School, Margaret’s early years were marked by a steadfast commitment to her family, a value which she carried throughout her life. On December 5, 1983, she married Charles James Wagner in Coldwater, Michigan, and together they built a nurturing home that became the cornerstone for their expanding family.

Margaret’s professional legacy is highlighted by her many years of dedicated service as a lunch lady at Colon Community Schools. Through this role, she touched countless lives, providing nourishment and comfort to generations of students, fostering a warm and welcoming environment that reflected her generous spirit.

Her life also included significant chapters abroad. Margaret and her family spent four formative years in Germany, where she welcomed her first two children. Since 1990, she made her home in Sherwood, Michigan, firmly planting roots and becoming a pillar of the community.

Those who knew Margaret remember her fondly as someone who enjoyed camping and treasured quality time with her family. As the matriarch of the Wagner family, she was a guiding force characterized by warmth, strength, and unwavering dedication. Her pride in her family was evident in every interaction, and her legacy lives on through her loved ones.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Charles J. Wagner of Sherwood; her children, Charles J. Wagner Jr., Stephen Wagner, Joshua Wagner, Nikita Wagner, Courtney Wagner, Tiffany Wagner, and Kaitlyn Wagner; grandchildren Charles J. Wagner III, Christopher Wagner, Marie Wagner, Peyton Wagner, Brealynn Wagner, Allison Wagner, Analyn Wagner, and Rubecca Wagner; and one great-grandson, Brandon Wagner. She was also a beloved daughter to Daniel and Alice (Barker) Collins and sister to Connie (Keith) Russell, Alice Fulton, Daniel Collins, Henry Collins, and Penny Collins. Her extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews who hold her memory dear. She is preceded in death by her son, Brandon Wagner.
