Daniel Patrick Ryan, age 77, of Sherwood, Michigan, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He was born on January 6, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Daniel C. Ryan and Blossom (Newcomb) Ryan.
On February 17, 1973, Daniel married the love of his life, Janice G. Knowles, in Coldwater, Michigan. The couple shared many years together building a life and family in Sherwood.
Daniel was a proud graduate of Colon High School, class of 1967. He worked as a journeyman carpenter and project superintendent with Baseline Constructors in Chelsea, Michigan. Throughout his career he was a dedicated member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union out of Detroit.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoyed working on cars, building and racing them, watching boxing, tending to his mini farm, and especially spending time chasing and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice G. Ryan of Sherwood; his children, Duane (Amy) Butcher, Kevin Ryan, John (Meredith) Ryan, and Kathy Cordial; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his sisters, Christine Knight and Susan Moore; and his brothers, Gregory (Deb) Ryan and Steve (Zora) Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel C. and Blossom Ryan; his sisters, Kathleen Wexler and Melissa Reed; and his brother, Mark Ryan.
The Ryan Family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. In keeping with his wish's cremation will follow.
Daniel will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of family, and the joy he found in working with his hands and spending time with those he loved.
