Betty G. Shook age 89 of Colon, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Betty was born in Van Wert, Ohio, on July 8, 1934, a daughter to the late Herbert and Bernice (Johnson) Brotherwood. Betty was a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School as a member of the class of 1952.

On March 29, 1953, Betty married her husband of 71 years, Orville L. Shook, in Van Wert, Ohio.

Betty had been previously employed at VanGuard Industries where she retired from in 1991.

Surviving Betty today is her husband Orville L. Shook of Colon, son Jerry L. (Karen) Shook of Colon, daughter Lorie (John) Wattles of Sherwood, 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Herbert and Bernice Brotherwood, Betty was preceded in death by a son Dale L. Shook in 1982, 2 brothers: Tom and George Brotherwood, sister Jackie Wells, and grandson Shawn Shook.

The Shook family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 10 AM – 11 AM at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD in Colon. A funeral service celebrating Betty's life will take place on June 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with pastor Randy Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donations be made to the Colon Rescue Squad.
